The word pollution has been derived from the Latin word ‘Pollutio’, which means to make dirty. In recent years the rate of pollution has increased very much, but what is pollution? It is the process of making the environment land, water, and air dirty by adding harmful substances to it known as pollutants. Pollutants are substances such as- Smoke, Dust, etc.

It can be classified into many types, such as water pollution, air pollution, soil pollution, noise pollution, etc.

It causes an imbalance in the environment. It has increased Global warming in the atmosphere, which has also increased temperature. The factories and industries cause many types of pollution, such as- water, air, and soil.

To reduce, it is essential first to filter the waste of factories and then release them in the environment. The government is paying full attention to reduce the amount of it.

There are various steps we can take to reduce them. Such as- avoid burning dry leaves, trash, and other materials. Eliminate the use of the fireplace and use a stove for cooking. General awareness is a must to reduce it.

Pollution has become a major environmental issue. The word pollution has been derived from the Latin word ‘Pollutio’, which means to make dirty. In recent years the rate of pollution has increased very much, but what is pollution? It is the process of making the environment land, water, and air dirty by adding harmful substances to it known as pollutants. Pollutants are the substances that contaminate the air, such as- Smoke, Dust, etc.

Types of Pollution

It can be classified into many types, such as-

  • Water Pollution
  • Air Pollution
  • Soil Pollution
  • Noise Pollution
Effects of Pollution

Pollution causes an imbalance in the environment. It has increased Global warming in the atmosphere, which has also increased temperature. Due to it, the ozone layer in the environment has depleted in many places. It allows the harmful UV rays of the sun to reach the surface of the Earth. This increase in temperature and the presence of UV rays has also caused the extinction of many species of plants and animals. It has created an imbalance in the ecosystem. This imbalance has threatened the survival of all forms of life. It is a threat to the whole world.

Another main effect of it is acid rain. It is caused by the contamination of air with harmful gases. Such as sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides which are released by the exhaust of vehicles. When these gases react with water, they form sulphuric acid and nitric acid. It falls on the surface of the Earth in the form of acid rain. This acid rain causes the erosion of marble and other stones. It is also called ‘Marble cancer’ or ‘Stone leprosy’. Acid rain has also resulted in the corrosion of ‘Taj Mahal’ which is one of the seven wonders of the world. Acid rain has also taken the life of many people. So it is necessary to reduce it in the environment.

The leading cause of the increase, the industrial revolution. Due to the industrial revolution, the number of industries and factories has increased. As we all know that these industries and factories cause it very much.

How to Reduce Pollution?

To reduce that, it is essential first to filter the waste of factories and then release them in the environment. As we all know that it is increasing rapidly, which is very harmful to all living organisms. So, the government is paying full attention to reduce the amount of it. If it does not control, then it can also result fatally. The Indian government is also taking many steps to reduce it in the environment. These are the Ganga Action Plan (GAP), the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). It is also our responsibility to reduce it’s level in our environment.

Conclusion

There are various steps we can take to reduce it. These steps are as follows- Avoid burning dry leaves, trash, and other materials. Eliminate the use of the fireplace and use a stove for cooking. General awareness is a must to reduce that. All the countries should work together to solve this problem and save our planet.
