Multiply Numbers Whose Sum of Unit Place Digits is 10 and Tens Place Digits are Same

In Vedic Maths, there is an extension to this theory which is not known to many people. This formula of Vedic Maths tells us to the Multiply Numbers Whose Sum of Unit Place is 10 and Tens Place Digits are the Same.
Here, two conditions are necessary for this Multiply Numbers trick. The first condition is that the sum of the last digit should be 10 and the second condition is that the remaining digits should be the same.
Let us have a look at a few examples:

Ex-1. Find the product of 56 x 54.

• In this example, we observed that the sum of unit digits is 10. Here the last digits are 6 and 4 which add up to 10 and the remaining digits are the same i.e. ‘5’ and ‘5’.
• So first, we multiply the last digits, 6 × 4, we get 6 x 4 = 24, we write down 24 as RHS (right-hand side) part of our answer.
• Now, multiply the tens digit, 5, by the next higher number, which is 6.
• We multiply 5 by 6 and write down the answer 5 x 6 = 30 as LHS (left-hand side) of our answer.
• Our final answer is 3024.

Ex-2. Find the product of 92 x 98.

• In this case, the last digits are 2 and 8 which sum is 10 and the remaining digits are the same i.e. ‘9’ and ‘9’.
• So first, we multiply the last digits, 2 × 8, we get 2 x 8 = 16, we write down 16 as RHS (right-hand side) part of our answer.
• Now, multiply the tens digit, 9, by the next higher number, which is 10.
• So, we multiply 9 by 10 and write down the answer 9 x 10 = 90 as LHS (left-hand side) of our answer.
• So, our answer is 9016.

Ex-3. Find the product of 103 x 107.

• Here, the last digits are 3 and 7 which sum is 10 and the remaining digits are the same i.e. ‘10’ and ‘10’.
• First, we multiply the last digits, 3 × 7, we get 3 x 7 = 21, we write down 21 as RHS (right-hand side) part of our answer.
• Now, multiply the tens digit, 10, by the next higher number, which is 11.
• We multiply 10 by 11 and write down the answer 10 x 11 = 110 as LHS (left-hand side) of our answer.
• So, our answer is 11021.

Ex-4. Find the product of 134 x 136.

• In this example, the last digits are 4 and 6 which sum is 10 and the remaining digits are the same i.e. ‘13’ and ‘13 ’.
• Now, we multiply the last digits, 4 × 6, we get 4 x 6 = 24, we write down 24 as RHS (right-hand side) part of our answer.
• Next, multiply the tens digit, 13, by the next higher number, which is 14.
• So, we multiply 13 by 14 and write down the answer 13 x 14 = 182 as LHS (left-hand side) of our answer.
• So, our answer is 18224.
